Springville — proudly known as "Art City" — is a city in Utah County just a few minutes south of Provo, part of the Provo-Orem Metropolitan Area and bordered by Spanish Fork and Mapleton. Originally settled in 1850 by pioneer families directed by Brigham Young and incorporated in February 1853, the city was first called Hobble Creek — named for the practice of hobbling horses along the stream to graze.
